Why it matters
A lapsed registration can stop a person working legally.
In regulated occupations, practising without current registration is unlawful for the individual and exposes the employer that placed them. Registration is not permanent — it can lapse, be suspended, or carry conditions that limit what a person may do. Many regulators publish a public register precisely so employers can check, and the obligation to look is generally the employer’s. A registration confirmed at hire says nothing about its status a year later.
