A letter from our CEO

I started in background screening by accident. I was working as a workplace investigator, and the same complaint kept coming up from employers: police checks were slow, manual, painfully clunky, and nobody supported the person actually being checked. Then I went through my own police check — five weeks, five rounds of back-and-forth, explaining myself over and over. It was miserable. That was the moment it stopped being an industry problem and became personal. I knew screening had to work for the applicant filling out the form, not just the business ordering the check.

So in 2013 I built Intercheck. The mission never changed: be the most user-friendly screening platform in the market, and give candidates and clients the best support in the industry. My team and I did exactly that in Australia. I'm proud of what we built.

But we hit a wall. When we tried to grow — more check types, new countries — our own technology couldn't scale. I'd built the first version with limits I didn't see until we'd outgrown them. The hardest moment was losing a flagship client, a major Australian listed energy company who genuinely liked us, simply because our platform couldn't expand fast enough to keep them. That one stayed with me.

So we started again, properly. Half a million dollars, eighteen months, the right team, building a platform that could run any check, anywhere, with global compliance built into the system rather than bolted on. It was the best work I'd done. Then in 2023, Certn made an offer too good to refuse, and the business was sold. I never got to finish it. That platform was my baby, and I never saw it used the way I'd imagined.

CheckPro is me finishing just that.

Three years on, the industry kept pulling me back — the same problems, still unsolved, and a group of genuinely good operators telling me to get back in and build it right. So we have. CheckPro is a crew of industry people building the platform I wish I'd had at Intercheck: fast, accurate, a genuine pleasure to use, with the kind of white-glove support that's still rare in this field — for clients and candidates alike.

A background check shouldn't get in the way of a good first impression. That's the whole point.
