What we offer

Product information

One official source. The Australian Financial Security Authority maintains the National Personal Insolvency Index, the national register of personal insolvency, and this check searches it directly.

What it is

  • Searches the Australian Financial Security Authority’s National Personal Insolvency Index (NPII), the official register of personal insolvency in Australia.
  • Confirms whether a candidate is, or has been, bankrupt or party to a debt agreement or personal insolvency agreement.

What it confirms

  • Bankruptcy, debt agreement, and personal insolvency agreement records
  • Filing dates, administration numbers, trustee, and current status (including discharged)

What it doesn't cover

  • A full credit history — bankruptcy records show insolvency only
  • A criminal record — bankruptcy is a civil matter
  • Company insolvency — that sits with the Directorship check

A discharged bankruptcy is context for a conversation, not an automatic decline.

Frequently asked questions

No. A discharged matter is context, not an automatic decline. What matters is whether financial standing is genuinely relevant to the role.

Bankruptcy typically lasts three years and one day from filing, but the record of it remains on the National Personal Insolvency Index permanently. The index is a public record, so a discharged bankruptcy is still visible after the bankruptcy itself has ended.

No. Company matters sit with the Directorship Check, which searches ASIC registers for directorships and disqualifications. This check covers personal insolvency only.

The discrepancy is flagged for review. Results are checked against what the candidate declared, so a mismatch is reported to you rather than passed over.
